Maintenance Yard, Hillmorton

Hillmorton Locks

Looking down the bottom lock at The Locks, Hillmorton, beside the maintanacne yard. There are a flight of three locks well spaced out.

Swift Valley Aquaduct

Looking along the river Swift under the Oxford Canal. The building of this bridge saved a 3 mile detour along the 300ft contour to an aquaduct at Cosford. Part of the rebuilding work of c1830.

Original Transmitter Building

Front Elevation

The 1925 Transmitter building, this was the original world beating high power transmitter and the sites main claim to fame. ( Copy shot of a postcard ).

Main Masts

The 12 main 820ft high triangluar masts are arranged in a figure of eight running north/south. The transmitter building is at the centre and the top of the north loop is not closed.
